View Full Version : My goal - Help me acheive it?
Precious

My site is VERY new. Just opened within the last 3 weeks or so. My goal is to get it 1k uniques per day by the end of the month or $5 per day, whichever comes first.
Can anyone give me some REALLY good tips? I don't have alot of money due to the fact that I just lost my job, and found out i'm pregnant - so I really need to get my site going...
I think I have maybe, $100 to get me started. Unless of course I can sell some more MSRS packages *wink wink*.
So, ANYONE offering any type of help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Build up a load of link exchanges. over at digitalpoint in there "link exchanges" forum is a good place to start. This will start bringing you in some traffic at least. have a myspace account with alot of friends? start posting some bulletins and let people know about your site. If you have 100 dollars to spend, find a good traffic myspace site to advertise on, such as having your link displayed in a spot that will get alot of clicks. This should start getting the word out about your site.

Link exchanges probably will hurt more than help - Google can tell when you do them and doesn't give you much weight. I'd limit those if I were you.

January 5th, 2007, 11:53 AM
If you rely on Google for your traffic you will get nowhere.Link exchanges or bought links on high traffic sites are worth much more in my opinion.Limiting them IS a good thing and I would never exchange with a site with more than 7 or 8 outbounds.
minnseoelite
January 5th, 2007, 11:08 PM
You dont have to limit your exchanges to 7 or 8 just make sure that you are doing no more than than the average. There is no "set" amount of link exchanges you should or should not do it all depends on your sites niche. And Myspace sites seem to do more than most I would say on average most have around 15 - 20 sitewide link exchange partners.
Now it is true though that you should try to have a majority of your links be one way links as these will carry much more weight than reciprocal links.

How are you doing for content Angiie? Does your site have much to keep visitors returning?
Precious
January 6th, 2007, 05:03 AM
^ Oh yes! I have LOTS of content my site so far is 1gb in space.
I add content almost daily. And alot is unique since I try to create all my own. But I also purchase from other people so I can get a variety of different styles. :)
I am happy to report that last night alone in google adsense I made $4.51. My all time high, lol. I'm very close to my $5.00 a day goal. :) Thanks everyone for all the tips!

You should also try using cpm networks. And the most important part is to have a lot of good content.
Precious
January 6th, 2007, 09:42 AM
CPM networks? As ive said before on here i'm VERY new.. So what is CPM networks?
Thanks!
webbom
January 6th, 2007, 09:49 AM
cpm networks are the ones that pay per amount of page impressions instead of per clicks like google.
Here are some networks to which you can apply http://www.sitepoint.com/forums/showthread.php?t=242492
The best are at the top of each category. In the top cpm networks you may have problem to get in if your site is small (not much visitors) but you can always try.
Also adbrite can bring you good revenue, if you dont mind showing interestitials to your visitors.

Well I have not really found one that pays to well unless you have a site that is getting over 5000 uniques a day (that will generally earn you $3 - $5 per day) if your site recieves less than that I would look into CPA (cost per action) or selling text links or banner space.

Precious
January 6th, 2007, 11:19 PM
I was only getting about 70-100 but now I'm getting 500-700+ daily. I did alot of paid advertising and link exchanges this week - seems to be paying off pretty well.
Now, i'm out of cash. lol I'm going to have to make some more content packages for users, so I can get some more money for advertising! :) lol

Well with 500 - 700 uniques per day you will make about $0.50 - $1.40 a day with even the best CPM programs

Yeah I was curious about how many visitors a day it takes to get $4.51 in adsense revenue. Somehow I am not understanding. She only has 500-700 visitors a day and is making $4.51?
Precious you must have extremely high CTR%

If you want my opinion, I'd keep with the trend you have going on already. Selling content to fund links and such, that will help build up your traffic.
The advertising doesn't matter as much right now, because with such little traffic it's hard for you to test and tweak to find out what works. It would be a good idea to get some exposure to a couple of networks though, so you can get accustomed to how their systems work. Sign up with say MAXBounty (http://maxbounty.com/) and Azoolge (http://www.azoogleads.com) (<<not referral IDs). Submit your form and then CALL THEM THE NEXT DAY. It will get you accepted much faster.
Personally I've been leaning towards MAXBounty lately, mostly because I find they reach out a little bit more than Azoogle. I'll PM you Jessica's number/info - she'll get you all set up.

Now I'm also looking for alternative :(

How much are you making I have a site that gets 600 - 700 uniques a day and averages $3.75 - $5.00 a day and my CTR% is only around 7% or so. Its all in the ad positioning and filtering out MFA sites that don't pay crap.

7% CTR. Wow, mine is pretty low compared to that. Mine is only like 1.60%. I need to work on ad placement. I have a MSRS site and havent changed ad placement at all.
But anyways back on topic. Good job Angie, as previously stated you must be working hard to get that amount of traffic.

Well make most of my own site layouts and place my ads according to Googles "adsense heat index" or whatever its called that way my ads are positioned where users are most likely to click on them.

Thats not good. What type of hosting account are you on? (shared or dedicated) And who is the provider?
Precious
January 14th, 2007, 03:29 PM
I own a reseller. I am with connect-hosting.com and they SUCK. I've already had to make a huge thread about them on DP a month or so back.
But I just went in with a hosting company 50/50 and I will be apart of their sales team. I will be creating the accounts, helping with sales questions, etc. And in return I get 50% profits, and my own reseller account with as much space/bandwith as I need. That will take 24 hours to set up, so my site should be back in a max of 24 hours.
I suggest NO ONE ever go to connect-hosting.com - they really do suck. This server update was suppose to take 12 hours, it's now been 4 days!!

After you have lots of content, submit to thousands of directories. It is a never ending annoying process, but it helps indubitably in the long run!

I would partly agree with you YES having lots of ORIGINAL content should be first priority, submitting to directories for one way links does help but not so much anymore as it used to.

When I submit to directories I look for categories such as Internet, WWW, Graphics, Web Design and always seem to get a pretty high acceptence rate from submitting to those.

Thanks :)
Well I'm averaging about 450 uniques per day after my 1 week downtime. (So Sad) but still a very nice improvement from 60 uniques per day. :)
With 400 uniques in 1 day, that's getting me about $2.80 or so. Still not too bad. But I really want to get to 1,000 and I've done all I can think of thus far. I've done bulletin advertising, comments, link exchanges, 500 directions, what's left? I don't have the money to buy links. :(

Its harder than just buying traffic, but you could try making a couple of nice looking profiles and start requesting friends. I've had 0 success with bulletins, but get a decent amount of traffic from nice looking comment posts and clean good looking profiles branded with my resource site tags. Again, more time consuming than buying traffic, but if you don't have the money it does work.

I have to agree with what Chris is saying here. Try to get your layouts/graphics/whatever in front of as many eyes as possible...with your link of course. I find that bulletins only work to keep your current fans up to date with your new releases. But for getting new visitors, it kinda falls short anymore.
Now if you're requesting a friend and this myspace user happens to be a hiphop fan, shouldn't you be showing him a hiphop layout? So don't just blind request friends, target them. Set up a profile with a hiphop layout, and go extract all the members from the top hiphop groups on myspace. Now, you've got an even better chance that your friend requests will result in click-throughs to your site. Do a profile(s) like this for every category of layouts you have, and just rinse and repeat this process. You'll get plenty more people thinking "cool layout!" and checking out your site.
