I apologise in advance if this thread is rude. I don't mean to insult anyone is any way.
It's just that I've noticed a lot of you bashing kids, but there are a few that aren't the twatheads most people make them out to be. Actually being a kid is a good thing, as technically it's the best time of your life, or so a lot of people say.
I do agree with the people who say that ignorant kvillers shouldn't be filling up the marketplace with trashy crap, but just because their graphics suck, doesn't mean they're necessarily 10-year-old children who should be colouring or something. Some of them are actually a lot older than some of the younger designers here that make good stuff.
Personally, it's not the immaturity of some 10-15 year olds that bugs me, because surely at that age you should be immature? It's more the fact that they think they're so experienced and know everything and are looking to be drowned in praise that they never get.
But really, not all 14 year olds are bad. I know one who has quite a successful site, with over 4k uniques daily, which is more than some 20 year olds get.
[/rant]
If you disagree, feel free to say so though, I'm interested to hear what your opinion is.

actually, I was more succesful in the website business when I was 15 than I am now.
except I know alot more now, but the pure ambition and excitement left as I got older.

Yes, I agree with you. I don't think age matters. What's good is good, and that's that. :)

i think when people say that they mean more along the lines of the drama that comes with being so young. Being in the website "business" it's important to be professional with what you do and it's hard when your 13 years old.
Although I must say, some of the younger designers have a lot of creativity on there hands in that perspective.
And keep in mind, some people may say younger kids are bad, but seriously if you go to kville, there are more younger kids bashing all of us then we bash them, every second thread is gossiping about someone.

Ya, this is getting outta hand with the drama. Imma say something about it now. NOT all kids are noobs lol. Infact, every KID I talk to privatley on here, I tell them they have a 99% success rate in this business.
#1. They KNOW WHAT KIDS WANT
#2. Instead of playing and getting into trouble their doing something constructive
#3. They are getting a head start in life by learning early.
Also, I dont think that EVERYONE fits into the sterotypes that people suggest sometimes. The drama around here needs to cool down a few degrees. INCLUDING EVERYONE. Im here to learn, not be in high school anymore:?

I like seeing young people getting into this stuff, just as I started my first site at about 13 yrs old. I do however disagree with you saying that being young grants you the right to be immature, I know many youngsters that know how to be mature when maturity is needed, so why can't they? Not saying that there isn't just as many adults that seem to lack the same skill because there is!
I'm pretty sure Greg's objective for this forum is for everyone to conduct themselves as a professional. Not saying you can't have fun here, just some people don't seem to know where to draw the line!
I think its rude and disrespectful for any of us to streotype any of the younger teens here just because of the actions of a few. Not to mention discouraging to those who are new to this and looking for a place to start out!
And like grego, I had more successfull sites when I was 15 than I do now. And to be honest I'm pretty upset at myself for not sticking with that site (not myspace related), one partner teen webmaster has been on the radio and another (John Griswald of TheBlackVault.com) I've seen featured on the freaking history channel!

well i find most teens annoying, but they are tolerable on here. Anyway, kid's shouldn't be working at that age, they should be joining math league or going to the prom or something. I mean, look at all those child actors... they all turn out nutty. Cory Feldman, Mccauley Culkin, that kid from leave it to beaver.
Oh i'm not being serious though, i'm just bored.

When I was younger I was always outside playing or at the beach, once I saw some little sites and decided I wanted to do it to I started early but I wasn't a member of webmaster/professional forums until...well until I joined here lol.
I guess I'm still a fairly young member, joining at 16.
Like you said, not all teens are immature and problem-causing.

The trouble is it only take a couple of completely idiotic 13/14 year olds to get all the others a bad name.
It's the same with anything so it's not just kids :)

That's exactly what I mean. There's some kvillers that really are everything you guys say they are, and that's made all of them seem n00bish >.<
@Connections: I know it's not the best traffic in the world, but it's a lot better than the 100-200 you'd expect from a 14 year old.

Connections,
I AM in my moms name, yes. I don't see anything wrong with that.
I still have a life, as in, I hang out with friends, go to the mall & movies
on Fridays, and all that, but the I come home at night and mess around here.
I would say for someone my age, 4k is a good accomplishment, as some
of the full grown adults, like someone said, arent even up there yet.

Didn't whateverlife do really really well or something, and start when she was a kid? But yeah I def. agree that whilst some kids may be pretty successful for their age, they no way know everything :P Thinking that they do is probably their downfall

Why we discussing problems on other forums here? I could care less about the other forums.
I think even the mature acting adult's professionalism gets questioned when the immature people has popularity amongst them.

yep
i know ppl who started doing web sites since they were like 12+ and they might not be that successful but they do know a lot :o
i dont think age matters... like theres sites that r soo good and there designs r awesome and what not but yeah their traffic isnt that good..
and theres others with sites that all they do is steal or w.e and they have huge traffic.. /;
its good if u start young because the earlier u start the more u could accomplish if u r doing the right thing.. ;p

unfortunaetly theres a lot of stereotypes out there for kids about anything and everything ..i think it depends more on your actions than how old you are.. being considered a "noob" doesnt mean you have to be a kid, and being a kid doesnt necessarily mean your a noob.. its all on how you present yourself =)

I'm gonna chime in my 2 cents. I think it goes both ways some teenagers on the forum can be childish and immature, but hey they are still developing mentally and are prone to act out sometimes. I am amazed at the age range of ppl owning successful website, lots of young entrepreneurs. On the other hand there are also a lot of "so call adults" that put the kids to shame with their behavior.

Clearly, maturity does not have a linear relationship with having a large amount of visitors to a myspace resource site.

Okay I'm sorry, replace the word "kvillers" with "teenagers" then. I used the wrong word.

I don't think age matters. But I hate it when 14 year olds think they know everything. Middle school was the lamest thing ever...
