Is having the word MySpace in your domain name copyright infringement? I'm trying to think of a name for a new site and I was just curious about this.

I think Myspace has laid off this, it was a big issue in the past but now there are more sites then ever with Myspace in the domain name.

For having myspace in your URL or what? They don't care, Yes you can get whitelisted.

Yeah, they look down on it, so no you might not get whitelisted.
Also, it is against their trademark, though theres too many open cases against Trademark violation for them to take on anymore.

meh, they whitelist sites with myspace in the name... but i dont know why you would want to get a url with myspace in the name... its better to get a brandable name that you can reuse later on.

If they want the domain, they can just take it.
Its a render on their trademark.
If you want to fight it you will loose, as you are using the domain in the same context as myspace and also you registered the domain after myspace.com was registered.
Their are ways to fight it but, and another good thing is they have stopped going after most of them a while ago, but when myspace gets short on $$$ I think they will start looking again.

Don't do it, it's not allowed.
Just because Myspace isn't fighting it at the moment doesn't mean they never will. It's better to stay on the safe side and use a brandable domain than to one day have to pay their lawyer fees.
