If it is not actually featured on the MySpace.com official parts of the site (Homepage etc) then they probably didn't pay anything for it, maybe just individuals whose profiles you've visited have linked them back on there MySpace Pages, in which case that's nothing official, just copy and pasting a Link Back code.
How are we supposed to know how much MySpace get paid from Companys etc and stuff, that's not publicly available info really, although insiders could leak it =/ lol.....Why anyway?

this is where the ad is located -

lol just keen to know how much it costs to get such a ad on 145 million profiles, and a few people on here work for myspace I just want to know the price range of such advertising. They release this kind of data all the time eg: coke released info on how much they spend on myspace etc etc...

Reason been I do advertising and marketing as a degree and this information is valid to me.

Oh I see...lol
I didn't look, not too keen on MySpace myself lol..
But it's one of them promoting a Movie or something isn't it?
They probably paid a couple Mill. for that kinda thing....

MySpace have millions of dollars flying in every way they turn lol.....
I personally, don't understand why, with the HUGE amount of profit they make, they STILL haven't fixed the sites ONE TRILLION errors, server speed and if you ask me, the site is just damn right badly coded. But I'm no expert :P

Maybe they offered MySpace free movie tickets.. :P

But seriously, I cant even imagine how much they must be paying.
That sum is most likely way over my head :death:

Companies probably shell out thousands of dollars and couple first-born babies for immersive advertising like the 300 movie on the frontpage.

That 300 movie looks badass though, can't wait to see it.

I am pretty sure its like 1 million + to get on the front page of myspace for a big campaign, I remember seeing the stats in advertising classes.

They have something to do with why the photo limit was increased to 300.
I saw a news post on the homepage thanking them and Warner Bro's for making the photo limit possible.

Maybe they offered MySpace free movie tickets.. :P
LMAO, or free popcorn.

Damn, that would cost a couple million to get that kind of coverage - you'd have 50 million people, literally, viewing your ad every day.

You study MySpace in Ad classes :|
I studied it for 2 years, and although, MySpace is kinda big, it is FAR from the largest advertising network on the internet lol, there's better ones to study than NewsCorp :P
I think NewsCorp are kinda STUPID for letting Warner Bros pay them off for advertising in exchange for server space, after all NewsCorp also own 20th century FOX - among many other TV/Movie streams (which are a huge player in all things TV/Movie too) and Warner Bros. is like Competition, to NewsCorp, who own FOX aswell as MySpace, so technically, they just advertised competition LOL
That's like me saying, "HEY, WHY USE MY GRAPHICS WHEN YOU CAN USE HERS!"

Its probly just a promotions thing imo, look at bebo you can **** a massive load of pics into that site and it doesnt seem to have any dramas.

I think myspace is just using this advertising technique to emphasise the "300" in this new movie.

And yes we look at case studies about myspace regarding advertising to teens in the future in advertising and marketing and also e-based marketing.

Oh right I get ya :P
Yeah, I guess as it is just ONE Warner. movie, it's not a huge deal promoting it through NewsCorp. and Bebo makes over 2-3 Billion dollars a year....So, I'm guessing MySpace makes what? triple that? lol....So, they probably paid MySpace a good "few" $$,$$$,$$$ LOL...

Oooooh Cool, Thanks :P
So, they paid for every profile to be upgraded HUGELY in server space, they are obviously paying them in servers then, so say over the next year, they buy them new servers as more images are uploaded...300 is a HUGE increase compared to 16 :O :O :O lol, that's gonna cost a lot, I'd say double the amount of image servers they already have lol...
I doubt anyone will use the 300 max though :P

not everyone but in the long yes some members they will actually have 300 pics kids this days take a pic of everything including , dog, cats, cars, bikes u named so is easy to fill 300 pics, but not all the members.
Now we all talk abou myspace having some millions profiles some members have 3 to 10 profiles sometimes they used a fake email then can't recover the password so i seen profiles that last login is over 1 year.
Some small social community networks have unlimited pics wich is not a big deal because they don't have millions of members.

i seen profiles that last login is over 1 year.
<slightly off topic rant>
I agree. I think they should do a mass cleanup every couple of months and for people who havn't logged on in 12 months or longer, there account goes bye-bye. I hate when i'm searching for something - I get a MILLION profiles coming up and there is NOTHING on it, or no one has logged on in over a year, etc. It takes forever to find what your actually looking for.
</slightly off topic rant>

Back on topic.
Yes, myspace is advertising that 300 movie because now they are helping myspace give the feature of having 300 pictures. And with them making albums now, i'm sure that those 300 pictures will be used. Ecspecially since (as someone else pointed out) too many people take pictures of stupid things such as sticks, dogs, gr**** etc.

Alright, i'm done. lol Sorry if this doesn't make sense, i havn't slept in 72 hours. lol
