Really Newbie Photoshop Question

How do I align something relative to the canvass... like absolute center? In CorelDraw it's easy, just highlight the layers and press P. How do I do that in PhotoShop? All the help files talk about alignment relative to other objects and layers.

I don't know that myself though I'd like to. What I usually do is cut and paste whatever it is I'm trying to align. PS automatically centers it when I paste it.

If you are trying to align layers, just select the layer you want and the background layer. Then in the layer menu, select align> horizontal center, then align> vertical Center.
