If you're easily offended, the back button is your friend.

And yes, it's true. He really did say it.

Note: I'm not picking on McCain, he just makes it so easy.

Seriously, why do people drag up crap from there past, and then try to use it against them? Calling his wife a Cu*t has nothing to do what he could do in office... I don't like him, and don't want him in office, but I don't like Obama that much either... The one I would want in office, is no longer in the race, so I have to figure out which one I want in office, there are things about both I don't like, but what it boils down too, is which one would make the better man to run our country, not which one makes a better husband. BTW I am not offended, I just don't care that he called her a c*nt... the word c*nt doesn't offend me, been called it a lot myself.

The short answer: to be educated.

It's silly to suggest that the kind of man that would make a good leader and the kind of man that would make a good president are mutually exclusive.

Yeah you have a point, but how long ago was it that he did this? I do believe people can change... I've changed a hole lot in just a few years.

I would laugh if it happened like 20 years ago.
And people do change, They just have to allow themselves.

Well I guess I have just seen change in people, My husband use to be a porn addict, he isn't anymore, my grand paw use to be an alcoholic but he quit drinking, I believe anyone can change, thats why I'm willing to find out how long ago it was, and give him the benfit of a doubt. This just doesn't sound like the worst possible thing to hate the man over.

this was a long while ago...

and yes, people do change. remember when bill clinton admitted to smoking marijuana when he was young???

mccain would not be running for president if he was a bad man and calling people "cunts" all the time.

meanwhile.. obama attended an anti-white sermon....

Greg-J

mccain would not be running for president if he was a bad man

The video is based on something old and is inflammatory, but it's true.

People who change dramatically embrace the idea of becoming a better person and have no qualms about talking about their past because it's much like talking about someone else. McCain refuses to acknowledge it. If he were truly sorry and a different man I would expect something like this:

"Ya know. I really messed up there. I said something no man should ever say to a woman and I regret it terribly. It was a long time ago and I was at a different place in my life. I was a different man, but that's not me anymore. I've faced that issue and dealt with it and I've moved on from it. I would appreciate it if we can move on from that discussion."

If he said something remotely close to that it would completely change my opinion of him.

Yeah, but your thread was completely out of context. You saw a picture and simply assumed it was the pledge of allegiance.

And please, you can't honestly compare not putting your hand over your heart for the National Anthem to calling your wife a ****.

And Andrew, "I like him more"? You like a man more because he called his wife a ****?

Andrew2
June 17th, 2008, 01:27 PM
It shows who he really he, Please note I hate him but he does get 1 point for publicly calling his wife a ****. If their relationship was all the worst and more important than presidency then they would have divorced by now, Obviously they're either in love and deal with their own problems or are staying together as many presidents have done in the past because it makes them seem more family friendly.. Either way he said what he said, Obviously pissed that she would say something to him in the first place where he had to dig so low and say what he did.

I still do not see how this would have anything to do with being a president, Arnold S. has creepy nude pictures yet he's still a governor (not the best but that doesn't mean he runs around naked).

The people who should sincerely care are the ones who are deeply offended by the word, but even then it would have nothing to do with how he controls an entire country so in the end... I don't see how anyone can give a crap about what he said in the past (the things he's called his wife, obviously a view on gun control and calling someone a **** aren't the same thing).

Well to some it means something I guess... I hate politics all together, you can never please everyone...

I don't like Obama, and I don't like McCain, the main reason I even posted that thread was to chat, just to help get the section started, and maybe it showed my not so brilliance torge politics, I hate them seriously...

But come on, have you ever called your wife a name? My husband calls me a ***** and I know I am sometimes, I been called a **** plenty of times, I call my husband an *** hole, but thats cus he is being an *** hole... Calling his wife a name doesn't make him a bad husband...

Yeah I'm with you, I hate them both. I will be voting of course for the lesser of the two evils but, Bleh. When that time comes my mind will be made up.

If he called America a disgusting sack of ****, Then people might take that into consideration.

Just thinking now, Honestly what he said could expose his views on females? What if he feels the same towards women, But still.. What if he doesn't. I never make my mind up, that's why I hate politics cus I have like 4 different views for every topic.

If he was talking about all females, then I would be voting for Obama, atleast in his case it was his preacher not him that doesn't like whites... But we can't go putting words in his mouth, when he was just calling his wife that... Just cus I call my husband an *** hole, doesn't mean all men are.

We used to say things to each other we didn't mean out of anger, but we were teenagers. As an adult there are just somethings you can't take back and the C word is one of those things.

I suppose most of America is alright with that sort of language though. What outrages me isn't that he said it. What outrages me is that it doesn't outrage more people.

Andrew2
June 17th, 2008, 01:46 PM
Yeah, that's why I never stick with one thought about anything because I'm not McCain nor have I ever heard him say anything about his views on the women in America. I don't think that, but I was just saying it is just another possibility.

What's most upsetting for me is that he denies ever saying it, If there's proof he's said it and he's completely denying it then he's just a straight up fool.

I guess when you've been called it so many times you get use to it and just let it roll off...

No my husband does not call my that, but other people have, online and off line... I usely laugh it off, to be honest not much name calling offends me... When my husband calls me a ***** I laugh and tell him "Thanks, I must be doing my job", I find that works better then just getting back at him.

If he is lieing about it, and saying he never said it, then he is a coward, and doesn't need to be the pres, because that just shows his character, that he can't be honest when he makes a mistake. And that to me is worse then calling someone a name... I hate being lied too, hate it with a purple passion.

well for me the word is really offensive...well bc it is, I once got into a really big fight with a guy for playing this word in scrabble, its just not a nice word, but ppl get angry or whatever, but of course I am not saying this protrays whether he will be a good president or not, but the same goes for ppl or say or start nasty rumors about other candidates, that they have no proof off, like lumping ppl together just bc someone they know or is acquainted with says stupid things like what that reverend said. It just makes me laugh really bc if obama is really racist, then that would mean he hates himself does'nt it? ppl just make excuses to justify their fear.

This is such a silly video that has no effect on me whether I'd vote for him or not. Ultimately, it's his policies/ideology that will make me vote for someone, not whether he is a douche to his wife.

Of course, you can argue that if he is like that with his wife, then he's probably like that with other people. Then again, he is a politician, he'll only call you a **** when you're not looking.

"Yes we ****!" - that deserves a spot on my msn screename. Obama all the way.

People can change but only if they want to. Just because something happened in the past doesnt mean they changed some people get worse not better.

Also famous people when they are caught of saying or doing something wrong usually just reply with the typical I was wrong politically correct answer to make everybody happy and get them back on their side.

As for the comment on C word , the comments Im reading. The state of womens self respect is in dire decrease. I would never tolerate anybody calling me a name especially not a partner in a relationship. I mean you cant controll strangers but a husband or a boyfriend!!!! hmmm sorry I could never tolerate that.

I used to date this guy who cursed and was rather rude to people before me. I told him if he was to be in my presence he would understand Im not having a convo with something who curses at all or would ever call me a B word or any type of insult. He never has. Its up to the person to let others know what you tolerate and what you wont. Its whatever floats your boat I mean hey if you like being called a B and its nothing to you for somebody to have that little respect for you thats you. I just dont understand why anybody would allow themselves to be disrespected and accept it as if it means nothing.

Can someone give me more info on this word? I personally don't understand why it's so offensive (I know what it is). Take note that English is my second language, so that's probably why I don't get it.

It's not really the fact that he said c*** that should make people think twice about voting for him. It just shows the type of person he is, and it reflects on his political ideology.

Thats all good and all, but when you are in the heat of the moment and someone just pisses ya off, you don't even think "*** hole" or whatever?

It takes a lot for me to call my husband one, and when he gets me to that point he knows its best to walk away, though I'm learning its best for me to keep my mouth shut, cus I will keep on and he'll mouth something off, its never meant, it just happens, and when I tell him "Why thank you, I must be doing my job" it pisses him off, do I really like to be called a *****? No who does? Do I like to be called a ****? Nope, but I can't control the world... And this day and age these things are said more common... I'm not condoning what he did, but that was between him and his wife and to me has nothing to do with being a pres... Think of the foulest thing you can say to a woman in your native language, that is the meaning behind the word here in the states. At least where I come from.

It's not so much what it stands for, it's the meaning behind it. I can't think of a more degrading thing to call a woman in English.

And being your 2nd language, you speak it quite well.

McCain calling his wife a ****.........hearsay from a video posted on Youtube...LOL

hear·say Audio Help /ˈhɪərˌseɪ/ Pronunciation Key - Show Spelled Pronunciation[heer-sey] Pronunciation Key - Show IPA Pronunciation
–noun
1. unverified, unofficial information gained or acquired from another and not part of one's direct knowledge: I pay no attention to hearsay.
2. an item of idle or unverified information or gossip; rumor: a malicious hearsay.
–adjective
3. of, pertaining to, or characterized by hearsay: hearsay knowledge; a hearsay report.
[Origin: 1525–35; orig. in phrase by hear say, trans. of MF par ouïr dire]

It was written in a book called the Real McCain by Cliff Schecter where he says he verified it with 3 reporters that were there when the incident took place but none would come forward.

Another Gossip story that belongs in the National Enquirer. He said she said but zero proof unless you count a guy wanting to sell books for money...

Though Im not a Dem I think John Edwards was an honest a true man. He meant what he said and he didnt play the political BS that the others did. Thats what ended up costing him in the long run. Im not hip on McCain just as I wasnt in 92 but will vote for him over Obama.

I would vote for Mickey Mouse over Obama. He is as far left as they come yet acts like he is down the center when in reality he isnt. The Dems took the House and Senate 2 years ago with promises of a better economy and lower gas prices. You see what has happened havent you.

You the same people that blamed the Rep for the craziness 2 years ago stay quiet when things are worse now then they were then and you have control. The Pres is nothing but a figure its the House and Senate that actually run the country.

So how good of a job have the Dems done in the past 2 years ??

LOL, Funny video. I loved the ending as well. rofl

All I can personally say about this whole issue is, if Cindy McCain herself has moved on from it, has forgiven her husband, and has seen reason enough to support him in his campaign despite of that incident in the past, then I don't see the need for discussion. They are a married couple after all, & what happens between them is for them to sort out.
Sometimes we say things out of anger, and in a marriage it is very common for a couple to argue & say very hurtful things to the people they love when they're in a fit.
They are still together today & his wife greatly supports him, so I can only assume that they still love each other, & if they do, then I don't want to make a big deal out of something that is personal to them and that both of them have already left in the past. :smartass:
