View Full Version : Disable 15 posts for pms, change that to days registered

Its very annoying seeing old threads getting bumped with useless posts. Isn't it better to stop the 15 posts to access pm system? Obviously people don't care about the quality of the posts. If the 15 posts get turned into days, like you'd have to be a member for 3 or 5 days before you can access the pm system, maybe it will be more effective. Spammers will spam the forum with useless posts to pm members anyway but I doubt they'll be patient enough to wait before they can send pm's.

Same. I saw lately people newbies have been posting in the freebies section but posting in threads like over a year old

I thought they were doing that so they could begin selling stuff faster.

I don't see much point either. I also like the ones who sign up and just go through the entire freebie section and collect and then you never hear from them again,LMAO!

I believe one member was able to start a marktetplace thread without 15 posts so maybe that's disabled..
Kind of idiotic for them to be posting useless stuff then too as its a reflection of who the person is and whether they can be trusted. I know I wouldn't buy anything from those forum spammers, no matter how great it is because I find the way they're acting a bit disrespectful to the community.

I agree, I just think they should be contributing members if they are either selling or collecting all the freebies.

^ I don't think they need be be contributing/active people... I know it's kind of tricky because the 15 posts has helped a bit and I think it's sort already like a time limit. I mean the average user can post at least 3 decent responses over a period of 5 days but then again.. Many people just don't want to be part of the community and just want to make some money or buy something without having to waste their time anywhere else. Very bizarre situation.
My sister and brother in law just walked into the house in their underwear so yeah. Wtf. :(
Also, Registrations need to be activated... They'd still need 15 posts to have links or to reply to PMs... And even if there was a certain number of days, spammers would just register a bunch of counts days before and wait.

I agree with Nora, it'd be a good idea. I am tired of seeing the old threads brought up.

It's more pissing me off than annoying me, so I see your point. I'll do something about it, I just don't have time to do anything about it today.

Maybe put the limit down to 5 posts?

if a thread hasn't been replied to in a certain number of days, maybe autoclose it?

LOLZ!
What if people could pm right away, but have to be a member for a certain amount of time to sell in the marketplace? Only thing is, I wouldn't buy anything from someone who I don't really trust... But how can you trust someone without giving them a chance first?

We could send them a welcome pm or have a post explaining that the more active they are as members (quality replies), the bigger the chance is that users will buy their content because it will give users a reason to trust them. :)

I use to belong to a forum that made you wait 7 days to start your own thread, 10 posts to PM, and 50 posts before you could have live links.

Yes, I can tell! You gave me BAD REP for posting in a THREAD that YOU think of as OLD, I THINK OF AS NEW! First time I'd ever been in that thread!
EDIT: Some people, like me, really DO NOT post in old threads to piss anyone off!
I'm not being rude, but I don't even know you........I'm married, why in the world
would I care enough about you to piss you off or annoy you?
Some people are just being respectful by leaving a comment because they took a freebie!
That's all I was doing. =)
