I totally suck at coding but i love to design web layouts and people aren't as inclined to buy layouts that aren't coded.

I want to join forces with a good coder who can do XHTML and code to Wordpress so that i can sell my layouts.

Here's out it works;
I make a layout and then i'll send it to you to code. Simple. Then i'll just auction it off on DP. I'll then pay you 40% of the money i make on the layout which is usually around $30-$60 on Digital Point (or maybe a little more? But i can't promise anything).

I'd like this just to be for a few layouts at first and then maybe permanently if they sell well?

But please note, i won't be able to pay you unless the layouts actually sell :( Sorry.

I think you should keep in mind that good xhtml coding takes a lot more time than designing layouts so 40% of what it gets sold for (if it even gets sold) might not be worth it for coders. Maybe you should ask cheaper coders to code the layouts before you sell them because I doubt anybody would take on a job when they can't be sure they'll get paid for it.. :)

Yeah, i understand; that's why i just wanted to try once at first just as a try out. If it doesn't happen then i won't carry on.
But i understand if people think this would be a pointless idea.

You could find a free blank Wordpress theme and edit that to your liking. That way you'll only have to edit basic css properties instead of recoding the whole thing :)

Can you get into trouble for selling that though?

Not if you're using free blank templates that allow reselling. Do a google search for blank wordpress themes. I came across one that allowed commercial work a while back but I can't remember which site it was :)

I'm up for creating a layout out of your images,.. I have strong (x)html/css skills, and it really shouldnt take me that long to create the layout if the images are there.. Creating the images is what always takes me the longest

I would like it if the images werent all stuck together, they would each be different slices for example like the header would be one image, background headers for the titles would be a separate image, the background image would be seperate etc etc..
If I get 1 big image with everything in it, its going to be hard to slice it up the right way for it to look right. but if they're all in the seperate images then yeah, it really shouldnt take that long to get the layout to ya.

Well this was the first layout i wanted coding:

So if i just chopped everything up and sent you the files you would be able to put it all together with the coding, etc? :)

yes, that can be done.. if you get it cropped up within the next hour, I may be able to have it to you within an hour after that

Designing is the easy part in most cases... why would you get more than the other person who's doing half of the work, if not more?

I don't think designing's easy at all.
But i also didn't know that coding was hard because i've never been experienced in that area/
So i guess in that sense, we're both doing half the work.
So i think i'll change it to 50% :)

50% sounds even better :)

for the header.png image, can I get that cropped up a little more? what I'd need is for the buttons to not be in there so it'll look alright..

also, you might want to remove the YourSite and .com from the image if you're going to sell it..

I gotta crop some of the other images a little more, but those shouldnt be hard.. the header I cant do cause of the shadow around it.. I didnt want to loose that..

Where exactly do you need me to crop around the header?
Would you just like me to crop it from the bottom of the header up to the shadow cutting the buttons out of the image?
Oh, and can i leave the text on the header just so that the customers can get a feel of what the text would look like? Then i can edit the text and change the url of the header when it's edited?

Johnthe3rd

yeah, you can keep the text in the header, it was just a suggestion.

as for where to crop the header image, how its cropped now is fine, size wise.. I just need it without the buttons/links in it I'll line up the links where they need to go there
