I think that you should be able to edit your threads, but most importantly you should be able to edit your market threads you pay for them so shouldnt you be able to edit them?
Opinions?
I looked and i couldnt find any thread about this topic, if there is sorry.

I agree, too. I wanted to update my thread but I didn't want to post a new reply because I didn't want people to think I was trying to "bump" it, 'cause I know how that annoys people. That's the only suggestion I can think of at the moment.

i think so too but i guess they think that people will edit it to include new stuff and that's against the MP rules.

I think you CAN edit it a few times, and then thats it, but as long as your update pertains to your thread, and what would interest all buyers, then it wouldnt hurt, and would not be considered BUMPING. Also, Jessidel is the marketplace mod, PM her if you HAVE to edit anything in your original post <3

You can edit any post, marketplace or not, within a few minutes of posting. If you need a marketplace thread edited, send a PM to any mod.
Greg has stated in the past that he will not be changing the ability to edit posts.

You can edit your first post until someone replies. Like what someone else said, I think they make it to where you can't edit it so that you won't go adding new things to sell. They want you to have to pay another $5 for a new thread.

There are a lot of very compelling arguments as to why you should be able to edit your own posts in the Marketplace, but I think it would create more problems than it would solve. It will remain this way for the same reason you can't change your eBay listing once someone bids.

I guess he'll assume people will edit their thread with a completely new sale which is $5 not in whoever owns the marketplaces pocket

That's not as much of a concern as it may seem.
My fear is that the terms of the purchase are set in the original post. The ability to edit that post presents the OP with the ability to alter the terms of that sale at any time. Too many times have I seen sales threads on DP where part way into the thread it turns into a public argument about the original post changing and promises broken.
Most of the people here are very honest and trustworthy, I agree. It doesn't seem like something that would be frequently abused, but even innocent edits have the potential to start fires that the OP might not be able to put out.
It has, and I need to stress this, nothing to do with forcing people to pay for a new thread. Sure, I believe users should start a new thread when they have a new sale - but this isn't some lame attempt at thwarting those who don't want to. My reason is sincere and there to prevent larger issues from arising.

Well how many terms is there on graphics and layouts?
Advertising and full sites might be different issues but graphics and layouts don't have many terms.
Anyway I probably won't get my point across so nevermind me.

Off the top of my head I can see problems arising regarding tagging, but I don't think waiting for the issues to arise is necessary. As for your point, the point was across before you were a member. I promise.
It seems common sense to allow people to pay for a post they paid for, I agree.
These aren't really posts though, they're classified ads. In that respect, I feel consistency is important enough to forgo some convenience.
I understand the request, and I also empathize with the motivation for the request. I've given it a lot of thought and even with the previous discussions on the matter I still feel the current editing system is the best. When the new Marketplace launches I hope to come up with a solution that will put both our concerns to rest.

Maybe a reserved second post would be a good solution..
Not sure how that's done without affecting the permissions of the thread as well but if people had the chance to edit the first post below their main post (reserving it for updates), they could update how many packs are left or anything else related to the pack without the constant bumping and term changing..

I agree that posts should Not be able to be edited. There are too many things that can go sour if someone can edit the original post. Even a secondary post could be changed at anytime and could still easily go sour.
I think it's fine the way it is right now
