First one is different but it's a bit fast, maybe if you added 2 more animated frames so it's not so seizuristic... But if I had between the 2 I'd go with the top one.

I prefer the second... I like the idea of the colours on the first changing but a little bit more gently and subtly though :)

If you use imageready you can use the "tween" button and add maybe 2-4 extra frames to get it to fade in and out smoothly.

i use cs3 and when tweening they came out even crappier.
this is how it looks tweened with 3 frames

i could've done it better with cs2. i'm really thinking of downgrading.

If I were making it... I would do maybe 5-7 layers... and on each layer slide the "Hue" lever over slightly... so it would make a subtle rainbow effect.... maybe try that? :)

i tried what you said Ammy but it didn't work well for me.

I actually really love the tweened one you posted.. I think that effect looks great! :) I didn't see that before I posted again :P
I don't have Cs3 so I'm not sure how to adjust the Optimization there... but when you go to 'Save for Web' just make sure it's under "Gif 128 Dithered"... that's all I can think of to make the colours better.

I really like that concept! The only thing is your getting that pixelation because a gif is limited to 256 colors and since you have all those different color gradients it is lower quality. I would take that concept and only use 3 or maybe 4 color gradients all closer in hue and value and chroma and it should look alot better and very cool! :)
way to be original!

yeah there is, the only thing is instead of calling it chroma, adobe calls it saturation.. dunno why but that's how they do it. you can still get different colors just a bit more similar so the gradients don't get into extra unnescessary colors
