View Full Version : DISGUSTED with PM ****

Please don't PM me with "other forum" shat.
Using somebody else's forum to recruit for or advertise your business on another forum is ****ING DISGUSTING.
If I am your customer, or your friend, or both, then you have at least one private avenue of communication. Private contact is cool. But the fact that you would use PM system here instead of the private email address that you have on file, in addition to the fact that my IM id is listed, makes me feel that you have a very low opinion of me. Fine. For this, I have a very low opinion of you, too.
It doesn't matter who may or may not have done what to whom; that does not justify anything. If Ronald McDonald did bad things to people, that would not make it ok for the Burger King to hand free lunch coupons out to people who are waiting in line at McDonalds.
Let me add that it is no secret to those who know me, that there is no love between me and Greg/MSP. In fact I have had longstanding beef with him and certain board staff here. So to those who may have remarks to the effect that I am trying to support or otherwise coddle up to them.... don't be silly plz.
This PM shat is ****ING DISGUSTING. That is all there is to it.

No. PM's are private between me and whoever sent them. I'm just sick of the shat.

I got a PM the other day also, about all the drama going on & it was a link to a Blog and on the Blog there was a link to "an alternative to MSP"
I dont want people sending me PMs pertaining to other Forums or drama either.
If there are other hott forums around my friends will chat with me & let me know.
If you dont know me on a personal level then dont PM me with drama about others or other alternatives, thanks anyways.

More publicity for the "other forum" with these kinds of posts. Looks like a Win-Win for them =P

I agree. I've gotten a couple of PM's reguarding joining another forum to sell stuff. I will admit that I am a member of a different forum.. But to PM someone asking them to join.. Nah, I'm not like that.

Me and another guy on here own a forum, but we don't do no advertising on here for it. We find that it would be disrespectful to Greg-J. I would hate to get PM's like that, that is another reason we don't do stuff like that. I try to go by the saying "treat people the way you want to be treated."

im a seller. i let my customers know where i am. paypal info isn't always accurate. if i let anybody know where i may be, its to my website and they can find me from there. there's people who are intentionally pm'ing people to get them to join with ill intentions against this forum and greg. it is very hard for a seller such as myself to let others know where i may be, so i write to them as sensitive as i can be so i dont offend greg or any other member and the forum itself.
my pm i sent this morning was a business pm with information and was issue sensitive. im proactively saying this so nobody comes out and points fingers at me that im trying to sway members or advertise the forum. i actually just advertised my own website, which has been in my signature for a long time.
i dont want to be put in the same class as those who are making things worse, they are also making things worse for me, a person who conducts business on a more professional level than a lot of sellers here. hence the lack of threads or posts in my threads since we all know how to make a business transaction via pm. the others post their pm which is pissing people off, then when my pm is received its automatically perceived as having the same intentions behind it. even though i mention no forum names or direct anybody to it. so yes, i think those of you who are using the pm system to try and get people to sign up or move altogether, this is the WRONG place to do it, for so many reasons.

If you're sending it "pro actively" to people who didn't ask for this information then I would call it spam...

actually my statement about being proactive was in regards to this thread, the people i pm'd where JUST to my buyers. nobody else.
david already said this thread was not aimed at me, as he is one of my buyers, and he got a different version of my pm, i am stating this in general because we all know how pm's get out and since i have been part of some of the issues, i DO NOT want to be part of any more fires. my pm was tasteful and directed people to my site, which has been done before and has been just fine with the forum

Actually I have no more need to explain it. David and I cleared the air and the pm I sent wasn't even close to what most people are talking about. So I will bow out of this thread as it really has nothing to do with me. The pm I sent directed people to my website. So its really not the same thing. I've done it before when I felt I may not be posting sales for a while. Letting my buyers know how to get in touch with me. So....off I go.

Ya - I've received 2 spam messages in the same number of days. One was that infamous drama one, but someone else I had been talking to in the past sent me a referral link to some other site or forum, or whatever.
I think it's well known that referral links are generally looked down on in most situations, unless they are solicited. When I open up my inbox and find a one-liner with nothing more than a link to an internal thread with a generic greeting and a referral link, well, that's just highly annoying.
I'm giving that guy the benefit of the doubt that he won't do it again. I believe he genuinely might not understand referral etiquette. :/

i really think people dont understand the loyalty users have for this forum. its one thing to happen upon a new forum and join that way and entirely different to be spammed into joining. i dont think its the first impression any new business needs.

Exactly what I think... loyalty for this forum, not loyalty for Greg-J which is the reason why others are trying to spam and send other links to other forums, because of the situation with Greg and the other guys.
We make the community not Greg...

I agree lizard, I wrote a PM to my top sellers a couple weeks ago telling them they could reach me via email incase I were to ever leave MSP due to some incidents, but right now things are cooling down..
I would never shove another URL down my buyer's throats though, That's basically just spam.. No other way to put it, Especially if the URL was a competing forum..
MSP THUG!
