How do you rank?

I've recently started really pushing one of my sites and it's now ranked:

255 for "Myspace Layouts"
17 for "New Myspace Layouts"
15 for "New Layouts"
28 for "div layouts for myspace"

I know top 255 sounds good out of 36,100,000 results. For those that have gotten onto the front page for a key phrase like that, do I have a hard road ahead of me? Does the competition get ridiculously hard when I get into top 100 or so?

Getting to 255 is a lot easier than getting on the first page, did you do anything special to get to that 255 spot? How old is your domain and what type of CMS (if any) are you using?

I would concentrate on, "new myspace layouts," and the other two keywords and set them as your short-term goals. myspace layouts will take you awhile, so leave that for last. that's usually how i do it.

Just a lot of targeted content (text content) and anchor links on good sites.

It seems to be working so far...

I use mambo cms, it's not meant to be used as a myspace script but with some heavy modding it's great! :)

I have been helping doing the SEO with one site that is #17 for Myspace Comments and #200 something for Myspace Layouts. Its alot more work and patience once you top the 100 mark and more so after topping the 50 mark. Think of it like climbing a steep hill the higher you get the steeper and more difficult it becomes. But if you keep chipping away at it you'll get there.

New myspace layouts seems to have an extremely bad google kei and only set. 177/24hr... I would of thought it would have more searches then that. Do you think spot 1, page 1 of google would be receiving more traffic for that one term?

and top 5 for a bunch of 10k terms

in the music and celb niches.

in myspace not much at all lol apart fomr a bunch of top 10 low tier keywords.

some 300/day so its ok.
