I hope this is the right spot...

But, how do you make your site's PR go up? Also, what makes it come up as first in the search engines?

If someone has a VERY detailed Ebook, i'm willing to buy. (Must understand I'm VERY new to search engine friendly sites, as well as PR ranking)

Please let me know, thanks!
(or any free advice is loved as well! ;))

HAPPY HOLIDAYS! :)

Well i can answer the first question.
To make your PR go up, you can A) get your link on high PR sites, which will increase your PR and B] get tons of backlinks. PR is based on how many backlinks you have. So even if its just a link to your site from your forum signature, that counts as a backlink. Granted you need a ton of backlinks to get a high PR. A good shortcut is to buy some link space on some PR6 sites and such.

There's so much info on PR out there, you could spend the next year just reading.

But what Selena said is basically all you need to know.
Just concentrate on getting your site linked from high PR pages, and you'll do fine.

If you haven't already, I'd suggest installing the google toolbar (http://www.google.com/tools/firefox/toolbar/index.html). This gives you a page rank bar that displays the value of every site you visit. It's handy for when you're looking for link trades or myspace profiles to post on.

Some people believe that submitting your website to a handful of directories still helps with PR. Honestly, it's a topic that could be argued over how well it works. In my opinion, it's worth it just for the chance that it may help. Search the Digital Point forums (forums.digitalpoint.com) for directory submissions. You'll often find people on there willing to submit your site to hundreds of directories for a very reasonable price.

Study your competition. Find out who is linking to your competitors, and why. In google, you can use something as simple as "link:www.xxxxxx.com" to list who links to a specific website. Use this information to the best of your ability...see if you can use their resources to your own advantage. More information on on Advanced Operators in google can be found here: http://www.google.ca/intl/en/help/operators.html

Study a bit about SEO techniques. Some of these are a load of bull, and some of them work miracles...you basically have to study and test, test, test! Again, search Digital Point or any number of webmaster forums for tips on optimizing your pages. If you're running a myspace resource site - make sure that every single layout, generator, and graphic you host has an HTML link accompanying it. This is one of the quickest ways to build a ton of backlinks.

If you need me to go into SEO stuff a bit more, let me know. But basically to start, work on trading or buying links to build up your site.

By the way, is your site currently indexed by Google?

Wow thanks for all that information. I'm getting started on researching waht you gave me thus far.

Now, onto a few more questions. What is SEO? I dont know much about it, sorry!

What EXACTLY are back links? I have an idea but want to make sure i'm right.

And finally, what is being indexed by google? And how do you do it? :)

Thanks again!

SEO = Search Engine Optimization

Backlinks = the amount of webpages on the internet that have a link to your website on it.

and being indexed by google means in other words you have some of your pages of your website listed in the search engine for specific keywords.

Just to follow up though. Just having a good PR does nothing for your SERP's though. IMHO PR for MySpace Resource sites doesn't matter much. What you should focus on is quality keyword targeted Backlinks. That will help more than anything.

I can agree with that Chris, often the highest entries in SERPS don't necessarily have the highest PR.

One way to think about it, is that you have to gain the trust of Google. The more trust you gain, the more potential you have to move up the ladder. So it can't happen over night, it takes time. Just ensure that you have legitimate, quality content, update often, and you'll be on your way.

Agreed. 5 -> 6 is a hard push.

Precious, an EXCELLENT resource for SEO info is this book (http://www.seobook.com/rf/idevaffiliate.php?id=1308).

Great resource anyone should have. (Yes, that is my affiliate link - But I do own it.)
