View Full Version : MySpace and MySpacePros to form an official relationship.

I've been waiting until the first official meeting, but I thought a bit of great news to cheer everyone up and I figured no better time than the present.

I've been invited to head up a council that will be the official council for resource sites with MySpace/FIM. We haven't spoken about the details yet, but the council will be responsible for being the mediator between MySpace and resource sites.

This is great news for everyone because now communication between myspace and resource site owners will have its own official channel.

There is no news yet as to which social networks this council will extend to and when that will happen yet, but I should have more paperwork and information by Monday or Tuesday on this and I will keep everyone updated.

It's awsome news indeed. I just got off the phone with another who is involved and there's even more exciting news I will hopefully have information on tomorrow regardinga program that will bring us another form of monetization.

Will this be before or after Myeeos launch? Is myspace ok with the fact that you guys are launching a competing product?

George
March 2nd, 2008, 02:59 PM
So people who already have large sites like pyzam will need to go through this counsel to contact myspace?

Greg doesn't have anything to do with Myeeos anymore, so your question is irrelevant. Correct me if I'm wrong.

:/ i don't think myeeos has anything to do with this forum right now. they closed the section and updates are only available through pgz and cyclops.

Greg-J

this is independent of myeeos.

As for larger sites like pyzam, Robert has all the same numbers I do. Chances are, if you already have a relationship with people at myspace, you will still have that relationship.

More communication with Myspace should be good for resource site owners.

Issues that have received much attention on the forum but no official word from Myspace include:

1) Why certain resource sites have been filtered/unfiltered
2) The current whitelisting of resource sites from the warning page

It was my understanding that it's still Greg's project; he just hired a development company to develop it. Is this true?

Myspace has come a long way from the days when they would hang the phone up on you if you said you were a resource site. Remember there was a time (about a year ago) when their relationship seemed antagonistic. Good to hear this latest news.

if its true, its just a more direct connection between site owners and myspace administrators with greg being the cord that connects the two.

It's certainly not a bad thing...

We are the people, he is the megaphone and they are the gods.

That makes greg sound like a tool though... He's our representative. Greg is the Jared from Subway of Resource Sites. The Gecko from Geico.

The main goal is expedite communication between between myspace and resource site owners. Issues such as white/black-listing sites, policy changes, platform development etc. Unfortunately the people I'm dealing with are incredibly busy so getting proper paperwork is slower-going than planned.

Bottom line is that, this is a good thing for resource site owners. A very good thing.

So what you're saying is there is really a council to communicate to myspace, but Greg was not asked to lead it? What part exactly is not true?

George
March 4th, 2008, 04:02 PM
Yeah if what peanut says is true then this was all a big ploy because someone was afraid of a certain new forum that has been added to the swear filters around here and wanted to make MSP seem like it was something bigger than it is ;)

NYCBORN
March 4th, 2008, 04:03 PM
I heard some stuff through the grapevine and it doesn't sound good for a lot of people. That's all I'm saying. Well not really a lot of people just certain individuals but until I see proof about any special relationships between msp and myspace it's business as usual.

Like my momma always said, you just can't believe everything you see on tv...or in this case read on a forum.

I'd like to know how we can believe you Greg after reading the mysterious email that was sent around. I mean you basically confirmed it in your blog. :(

Greg-J
March 4th, 2008, 06:07 PM
Myeeos isn't something I'm going to discuss any further than what I wrote on my blog. I'm not going to defend myself against false accusations here.

As for this council, the people creating it are on the east coast so it would be inappropriate to call them at this time, but I'll be on the phone with them tomorrow and I will post here afterward.

Aleisha
March 4th, 2008, 06:10 PM
Awesome greggy

Aleisha
March 4th, 2008, 06:24 PM
See, the thing that annoys me is you Greg saying

"Get your resource sites ready, it's coming tomorrow if not the next day"

Or people would ask if they should work on their sites and you'd say 'Definately, it's almost ready'

So people like myself would spend a few hours in the night working on their "myeeos" site, then have nothing unfold as far as myeeos launch.

So it would basically be wasted time.

But then we read this line:

[9:41:46 PM] Michael Morgan says: We moved Myeeos to a new server last month and greg hasn't noticed yet, keeps saying he is working on the site but he doesn't have any login details lol .

That fustrates me.

I don't expect you to reply though seeing how you've had your final word on the matter.

Greg-J
March 4th, 2008, 06:31 PM
This announcement is dependent on other people. I've been waiting for two weeks for the information, but these people are really really busy individuals. I was suppose to have it by Sunday or Monday, but nothing yet. This obviously isn't the most important thing on their plate right now.

Regarding myeeos, I rarely work on remote copies of any site I'm working on. If I'm not working locally, I use my hosts file to point whatever domain I am developing to a development server.
