I have been sitting at 4,500 unique visiters per day for the past 3-4 months. I would like to make it up to 10k per day. How do I do it?
all my traffic currently comes from search engines and profiles. I have not paid for advertising in prolly 6 months. would this be the solution to break the 5k barrier and get up to 10k?

To tell you the truth I rank really well on Yahoo!, I am actually number one for a decent keyword and as far as other keywords, i am usaully in the 1-3 page range.
Now for google, uffda... well I am ranking for example one keyword I am on like page 42 or something around there.
I guess what I am trying to figure out is how some of these other sites got to the point of reaching 30-50k per day? I would like to know what they did to get there and so on...
Lately I have just been adding new generaters here and there, been paying a few people to make like 10 layouts for $$ and adding those up.. Doing a few link exchanges here and there..
Dont get me wrong, I really enjoy my small 4,500 uniques a day and I am thankful, but there is a time when a person feels the need to want to grow...

That doesn't always help (for me anyway). My site opened in July and I'm still getting just 300+ hits.

4500 isnt bad. Your half way there..
Just repeat what you have already done.

if you want it to instantly get to 10k buy some high traffic links and pay for advertising on other realted sites.
link exchanging with big sites will help but your looking to double your uniques.

well back in march 2006 when I launched, I spent $700 on contexual advertising. I will admit, that is what took my site off the ground. I am almost tempted to repeat it..

I'll tell you how big sites did it, they made awesome stuff, IE layouts, graphics, etc. They had every part of the layout tagged, the banner, contact box, background, placed two or three links in the text area and a button at the top. People started to notice their layouts, saw the links all over the place and clicked.
All you need is some original content, tag it good, get a few people or yourself to use these layouts/graphics and you'll get more hits. You can do some paid advertising on the side too, but you want to get your stuff out there.

Thanks for the advice. I have actually just started doing this method about 2 weeks ago. Been having my designer tag my url on pretty much everything. contact table, extended network, background image and ect... I will most definently keep this up though and see how it goes. Thanks

Google is 50% of the entire search results Market (or something like that) ..so you may want to try to score better with them ..you would be suprised when you have proper placement in all three I bet you get what you are looking for .. MSN and Yahoo ..are just a tip ..of what it takes.
I hope this helps ..I am sure you heard this before ..but when you search were do you go to ? ;0)

1. DP Forum ..sig links help ..for us geeks ....they are cheap -- 15bucks-100 per month FOR pr7 links..(at least 60 days to see some effects) period..no way around it.
2. a nice text ad on an OLD .edu page .. I actualy used it and STILL get results from that simple little add. 75-350 bucks depends on the size of the add.
3. Someone mentioned the Graphics and what not ..GREAT NATRUAL backlinks right to your site. Google digs that. No sure of price but I bet someone ..hint hint would now.

OK an Update.
After doing some searching on google for information on how to rank well with google. I noticed some things that my site was doing wrong from the beginning. So I made some changes. I just hope they dont effect my awesome yahoo rankings.
here is what I did.
Every single page on my site (about 100 different pages) had been using the exact same < title > which was the following...
DomainName.com - MySpace Layouts, MySpace Tweaks, MySpace Codes, MySpace Generators
So I changed each page to have its own < title > tags for example...
DomainName.com - Myspace Layouts - Hip Hop
DomainName.com - Countdown Generator
and ect ect ect
Also I added "alt" and "title" tags to every single image on the website since those were missing...
let me know what you guys think about these changes. Hopefully when google respiders they will like it...

You can see effects before 60 days it just depends how long it takes google to find and index the link there is no set time sheez. I have had some links not do anything for my site for 3 or 4 months. On the other hand I had one site that I purchased a link for and seen the benifit from in in only two weeks.

Having unique Title tags will definatly help in Google especially with keeping your site out of the supplemental results. Also adding ALT tags to all of your images will help Google figure out what the images are about and place them in Google images for people to find. Myself I just sold a site a few months back that recieved over 500 visits a day from Google images alone

I have also noticed that naming each image with the proper keywords also has helped me rank better in the normal google results.

Yes it does as it futher helps Google determine that you page is related to a users search. As with everything else though dont spam your ALT tags either.

Excuse the stupid question but do you only do this to new images? I thought that if you edited the names of images already being used they would not work on peoples profiles (those that had previously linked to them).

I think maybe they mean the ALT tag for each image and not the actual image file name, but I could be wrong.

I am only doing it for existing images so that way people dont get stuck with red "X" on there profiles.
although it wont hurt to change the alt tags on those images.

Yes the images ALT tag, this you can change whenever you like without affecting peoples profiles. But to increase the effectiveness of your ALT tags you should also give your images "real" names so if you have a layout where the background image is purple hearts then instead of naming it something like image phl01.gif you should name it something like purple-hearts.gif or purple-heart-layout.gif

It depends how you are advertising. Google adwords for myspace campaigns usually cost (about?) 15-40 cents per visitor to your website, although there are plenty of other ways to advertise. I don't mean to intrude on this thread with advertisements, but www.friendfrost.com (my current project) has plenty of VIP slots open, as we are less than a week old. The VIP is a good investment if you want steady traffic for long periods of time, or else you could try paying for one way links from high PR myspace websites to help your search engine rankings. It all depends which route you want to go.
