I have a new laptop (runs Win Vista) and my old laptop (runs Win XP). I was wondering what would be the fastest way to transfer about 20GB or so of pictures from the old laptop to the new laptop.

I know I could just enable files sharing and copy them via explorer, but at times I only get 800k - 1.5MBPS transfer rate with that. It only uses 2%-8% of the links capability. I'm looking for something that will transfer MUCH MUCH faster over a LAN. Does anyone know of a program or anything that? I read somewhere that ESEUTIL can use up to 80% of link capability and usually averages about 60%.

I heard of RoboCopy as well as other programs, but I am looking for THE FASTEST and best one out there.

Any thoughts / suggestions welcommed.

No idea.. I just use msn to send movies to my sister and that's extremely fast compared to regular transfers.

There is a bug in Vista that will be fixed in SP1 for transferring files. It will take you a good amount of time without SP1 to transfer a large amount of files.

Best thing to do, use a thumb drive or wait till mid march for sp1.

Wireless transfers are incredibly slow. If you're transferring on lan make sure you're using wires.
