I am aware that there is a limit of 3 ads per page when using Google Adsense.
My site has 3 ads in header.php, and 3 ads in footer.php - so there is 6 displayed on every page.
Would that be violating their terms of use since you can see 6 ads?
Or would it be okay since the coding for the ads are on different pages?

3 per page means 3 per page. You can use 3 text/banner units in conjunction with an adsense for search box though.

no google would not allow this, they might never detect that because like you said its in the header and footer, but somebody viewing could report your site to google and that would be bad. plus they might get suspicious of the ammount of expressions your site is generating. i wouldn't risk messing up with google.

Its not allowed, 3 is the limit.. even if their pub's are different.
I wouldn't risk it because you could get your adsense account banned if they find out..

Hopefully if you see this, you will fix the ads:) since i'm 100% sure it's not allowed

You're allowed to have 3 text/image ads, 3 link units, and 2 search boxes...

I thought you were only allowed to have one publisher ID on any given page?

This is what it says on gooGle:
Ad Placement:AdSense offers a number of ad formats and advertising products. Publishers are encouraged to experiment with a variety of placements, provided the following policies are respected:
Up to three ad units may be displayed on each page.
A maximum of two Google AdSense for search boxes may be placed on a page.
Up to three link units may also be placed on each page.
Up to three referral units may be displayed on a page, in addition to the ad units, search boxes, and link units specified above.
AdSense for search results pages may show only a single ad link unit in addition to the ads Google serves with the search results. No other ads may be displayed on your search results page.
No Google ad or Google search box may be displayed in a pop-up, pop-under, or in an email.
Elements on a page must not obscure any portion of the ads.
No Google ad may be placed on any non-content-based pages.
No Google ad may be placed on pages published specifically for the purpose of showing ads, whether or not the page content is relevant.

This is one of those areas where Google has said no and yes. If you search you can probably find a Google rep saying it is not allowed and then another saying it is. If you look in the TOS, you won't see this even mentioned. The Google rep that said it was allowed said just follow the TOS and all would be fine. However, if one account screws up, all accounts on the page could be punished.
If you want to run 2+ ids on a single page, email help and get permission.

I did, that's why I said that, I emailed them a couple of months ago asking about it. However someone else could get a different response so that's the best bet, contacting google.

Yes. Never use more then one pub ID on a page. Unless you got some sort of special permission, or emailed them.

I know. Its like asking your Mom and Dad the same question and one says yes and the other no. So then what? As long as you have an email saying yes, then you are ok.
