well you spend time and money ranking for a good term,
then google decides to throw youtube videos into the ranks now aswell its a little un fair,
videos with like 20 million hits are ranking for some terms i rank for its kinda annoying.
what are your thoughts on this?

It's as annoying as Google images and Google local taking up spots in the SERPS. And Google news which also steals spots from time to time. Once Knol arrives, I'm sure that will steal spots too. Hopefully, by that point, the general public will be annoyed with Google owned properties dominating the SERPS. At least that's what I hope.
What seems to be making youtube vids rank more, number of views, or the amount of links pointing at it? Or is it completely random. Has anyone figured out that algo? (I'm sure people would be chomping at the bit to share if they did...hahaa)

I can understand if they were official videos, such as a music artist video, but unofficial videos should not be at the top. Isnt this a form of collusion, since youtube is owned by google and they are giving themselves an unfair advantage?

it's fair cause it's their search engine, and your
using it. Would it be any better if they included
a little tag up top that read " If You Don't Like These
Results You Can Always Use Yahoo or Msn"
in other words, that is Google's way, they aren't really
as they profess to be, "...Do No Evil" type of company.
So basically they do whatever they feel like doing and
throw the scraps overboard to US. -lol - as in myspace
resource sites getting .02 for 3 clicks... but hey! C'est la vie.

Yup. Google "shoes" and you'll see that funny shoes video.
Why don't you use it to your advantage? Go with the flow. :)

Another annoying this is if the content is illegally uploaded.
ie: the you tube user CUTEBABE4U69 uploads a t-pain video and it had 14 million hits then it ranks for page 1, when it should not be uploaded int eh first place.
another thing is the have nice little graphics next to their URL in the search engine how do we gain this.

Yeah that's pretty annoying, specially when you do it yourself and your profile gets deleted. That's what I get for being a contributing member to YouTube by being the first to upload the video for The Pretender by The Foo Fighters.

Another twist to this .... there are people selling bots that you use to give your Video as many plays per day as you want.
This has the effect of that particular video rising in the ranks.
I don't think Google will continue this for long once they see how easily it can be to manipulate the results.

I know I have seen such bots for sale,
I know google had the right to use their network to promote their other assets.
yet I think this one needs to be looked at.

What does the bot do? Send fake hits or "clicks" or is it about the plays? I should get it.:shifty:
*starts googling*

There are ways to increase just the "views" for free by thousands of views per day, no need to by a bot for that....
