There are many free HTML, PHP and WYSIWYG editors available (besides paid Dreamweaver)
WYSIWYG:
-NVU
-Mozilla composer
HTML editors:
- PSPad.com
- Crimsoneditor.com
- Notepad++
PHP:
I know only for this paid one:

The WYSIWYG i use is microsoft front page, but mostly, i use PSPad. Alot of people seem to like notepad. I think i might try downloading it some time.

lol, the thing about notepad is its already installed on your computer, its included in any standard windows package. alot of ppl like it and a majority of ppl can't use it. its a true designer thing.

I like Homesite myself, but I use Dreamweaver.
I disagree with the notepad thing lol, people say only the hardcore designers can use it well to be honest if someone offers you a better programme that makes your life easier most of us would take it :P

Yeah Dreamweaver does make Notepad look a little basic, i like dreamweaver for creating website templates but once the site is on ftp i use notepad to update them. I can usually go in and make my changes save and close all before dreamweaver has even loaded.

I'm a hardcore homesite/topstyle user. I do use DW when I need to work with templates or collaborate with others though.
