yes I got the first post in here..

anyways, I was wondering why I don't see more profile layouts designed with gradient backgrounds. I have been turned on to this style for a while and I don't see it around much. just wondering why no one uses more gradients, its a really easy way to achieve cool effects. anyone else do things layout and graphicly wise that not many do? Take glitter graphics for example, many of the glitters i find that are designed by different ppl all have a similar look and style, like the design process is the same or something for most glitter designers. yet i still see some that are of a completely different and original style. where do you as a designer fit and what do you like to do to achieve originality in your designs, i guess that's what i'm getting at.

your feelings?

Hmm, gradients are quite good.. But i prefer to use different effects on both glitters and layouts.. that i would maybe use on a banner for my own site. Overlays, textures & stuff.. i like to spend time on layouts, to give each one it's own look.. so it doesn't look like i've just slapped a picture and some text on a background.

With glitters, everyone has their own style.. i mean i like to experiment with effects, but i don't always like to use too many.. otherwise they look tacky lol.

I am absolutely furious. You came in a stole my first post glory from right under my nose while I was messing about trying to make my poll. I have been beaten by a couple minutes. Blast.

I'll never forget this!

I add gradients in mine I think, but I call it two-toned cause it sounds cooler. They work sometimes, but sometimes they don't. Time and place is key.

gradients are good for layouts, but you have to know when their good, and when a regular 1-tone background is best. i use them sometimes, but generally i just like single-tone

Lol David i don't know why but your post made me laugh for a minute. I had to do it, i need some claim to fame here cuz i'm new :)

anyways, yea it's true gradients arn't always good plus when you use gradients or a background image for that matter you have to design all the graphics to be transparent, which can cause that dreaded pixelation of the edges

I used to be into gradients but got sick of it. I mostly like soft tones with darker colors as brushes or tables.

Gradients are such a tricky thing to work with. They can either look really good, or look really horrendous.

I don't think it's played out, like with a lot styles people get carried away. It just needs to be subtle.
