Which community do you guys prefer over the other? Do you guys go on Sitepoint more than you do Digitalpoint? If so, why do you prefer one over the other?
Personally, I've always been a fan of Sitepoint, but Digitalpoint is more active.

Honestly, Neither. DP as a community turned to crap a long time ago and SP as a community is simply user unfriendly. I'm not a huge fan of their Marketplace either because it didn't take long for scammers to realize that all they had to do was pay $20 to post their scam and people instantly thought it was legit because the seller was willing to pay money to post it...
I post almost exclusively on MSP. Every now and then I'll post on a specialized forum, but the community here is all I need, and as it grows it'll only get better.

i agree if MSP was a choice it would be MSP hands down. The community here rocks even with the occasional family feud. I have met lots of cool people on here and have built good relationships with members on both business and personal levels. MSP MSP MSP!

Sitepoint is just too confusing for some reason. And DP turned to crap in more than one way. I like MSP way more and I can't wait for the "changes".

I lurk at webmaster world to read an occasional informed opinion.
Also, I pop in to all kinds of other forums for problem solving, just adding the word forum in my search. It's helped me with php, htaccess, finding scripts, hacking my razr phone, finding landscaping solutions, haunted house design... lots of great niche forums out there. And if you write a good subject and take time to describe your problem you have experts lining up to help.
oh but on topic... DP just out of habit, but damn I wish I could filter some of the noise out! There should be some sort of basic literacy requirement, not perfect grammar, but at least the ability to put full thoughts into English words. (The ability to have a full thought wouldn't be bad either...)

As a web designer, I mostly visit Sitepoint and join a contest or two. Digitalpoint is annoying because people want the world as far as designing for $1. Most forums I have joined have been for design work. The only forum I've stayed around is WebHostingTalk.com. I haven't really found another forum I feel comfortable posting in yet. I'm also a designer with designoutpost.com. It's been nice working there. But in general, I'm not much of a poster. Even in my own forum (The Carpenters fan site) I don't post as much!
So I guess I don't really feel comfortable at Digitalpoint and Sitepoint I just join the design contests and don't really post in their forum.

If I recall correctly, it died ever since a bunch of noobs started signing up posting about how to spam MySpae. It got so bad that they removed the MySpace Marketing forum and things slowed down since then. Lee still has other successful projects that make a lot of money, so I'd personally just sell it and focus on better things.

The thing about Site point is it seems to be filled with all newbies.
you get a lot of people annoying you for help, if they see you are ranking or making $$$.
I have been on digital point for a very long time, no offence but that place is so filled with indian webmasters now its a real joke, Not been racist or any thing but you just get sick of some threads.
"indian webmaster wants to know when YPN open in india"
"indian webmaster wants to make money on blog spot network"
indian webmaster ect ect
over and over...they keep asking the same stuff every few hours...
I know they are only trying to get their hustle on and make money because times are tuff but seriously some are very annoying DP has deffiantly changed over the last two years...
Also Site point market place is decent, but I have found if you want to sell a site for a Ok amount most leads do come via randoms on DO via PM.
on site point it seems to be a lot of "mum and dad" style investors who don't understand websites...but yeah if something good comes up on site point big buyers are their...
I also like name pros forums as well some websites stuff on their, alot of cashed up people as well.

I still post on Digitalpoint and lurk on Sitepoint but to be honest it's mostly out of habit. DP went downhill rapidly once the Indians overran the place - between them and the scammers (not necessarily mutually exclusive) the place has peaked and is in the first stages of it's death throes as most of the people who contributed useful stuff have gone elsewhere. Sitepoint tried to eradicate the 'bad element' with the changes to the Marketplace and it worked for a while but it really is rather vacuous. Were it not for the staff-writers Sitepoint would be a deadzone.

Like mcfox I still post on DP but no more than a couple of posts a week, I only go there when I receive an email notification about a thread I'm following.
I agree DP went downhill when the Indians overran the place, they got together and set a mini Indian mafia on there and then started bullying tactics if you said something they didn't like or you called one of their members out for scamming or straight out telling lies.
I never liked sitepoint much but thought their new marketplace was going to be good. But since they let the person selling remove any negative posts in the sales threads the scammers have had a field day on there. That and all the bogus bids or BIN's where there is no punishment for the people doing it has totally ruined the marketplace.
I ended up being scammed quite a few times on both sites so I confine my activities to MSP's now .... I mean if I'm going to be scammed it might as well be from one of the family rofl

I Love Sitepoint marketplace. You really do have to screen the buyers though, and I've had someone flake haflway through the escrow. Can't really blame that on sitepoint though, I have had more good experiences than bad with them so can't complain.

Sitepoint - is still hands down the best technical webmaster forum out there. Design, coding, programming.... you go on there and ask a question and get answers from professionals within minutes sometimes. I can't remember the last time it took over a day to get an answer on a PHP question and I have pretty complicated questions :D They also have a great monetizing section where everyone really shares info on these ad networks.
Digitalpoint (a.k.a Indiapoint) - I agree got overrun with India webmasters. But they're not just any Indians... they're noobs! My problem with them is more their attitudes. It's like they heard the internet is handing out free money and they come on there in broken english basically demanding someone tell them precisely how to make several thousand dollars monthly. There used to be an incredible amount of SEO knowledge posted daily on there. But the noobs ran them all away. Still the best (free) marketpace though.
EarnersForum - Is dying a slow death. The admins rarely even login anymore. It was basically a failed social experiment. Turns out human nature isn't all it's cracked up to be and big earners will not take time out to help noobs on a forum and they most certainly won't come on there and talk about their methods with other big earners even if it's in a private forum area just for them.

It's been a little while since I've been back to SP. I got burned from a buyer and that ticked me off. I wish they had some type of rep system in place. I have gotten burned from buyers on DP too, but at least it didn't cost me anything.

I know they have gone into every niche.
Ive even seen them making sites on "USA medical advice" "USA legal advice" basically any high paying USA niche they are all in.
The irony is most don't have knowledge in these areas as they live in India.
I think you are most successful with sites when you actually have interest into the niche.

Haha. I've noticed the other people who love to argue in threads there are people with 8,000 posts who have been at DP since the beginning. There are random crusades to bring down the DMOZ facade. That's like the favorite topic of the people with over 10,000 posts. A whole life devoted to smearing DMOZ. ROFL
In fact, all you have to do is make a topic called "DMOZ is awesome" and people will come out of the woodwork screaming crazily.
