I'm surprised to see it hasn't come up yet, but I've been paying close attention to the news (mostly speculation of course, as is most news these days) and rumors regarding myspace cutting youtube off and youtube cutting myspace off, and I'm curious how the rest of you think it's going to effect myspace and subsequentially those of us who make a living off of it.

If you're not up to speed, this article (http://www.webpronews.com/insiderreports/marketinginsider/wpn-50-20061016MySpacevsYouTubeGoogleWins.html) is at least a decent place to start reading.

I saw similar articles on many sites, I was well aware that newscorp interactive is trying to wipe out youtube, but now that google has youtube its weird how google and newscorp have their little partnership going with myspace search. Their was a good article not long ago about how newscoprt claimed it could take down youtube in under a month lol.

myspace videos do alright but they have around 50 thousand new additions each day with is a decent amount.

I dont know how this will effect "those of us who make a living off of it".

Give me one example

Even if a video gets 100,000 plays how much money would you expect to make?

Not much

Just because you haven't figured out how to monetize it doesn't mean other haven't. (Clue: think outside of the box)

Agreed Drew.

Ted, I think a common misconception among webmasters is that just because you can't think of a way to monetize it doesn't mean others aren't milking it for all they've got. youTube is an amazingly valuable and free tool for you to use in ways you just haven't thought of yet.

But when I said 'making a living off of it' I was referring to myspace, not youtube.
